Humpback whale, Megaptera novaeangliae. Digital illustration. 2024

I was lucky living at Gansbaai, in the South African coast for more than one year, enjoying the different species of cetaceus (humpback whales, southern right whales, orcas, dolphins) living or visiting that bay. I could only see them from out of the water but you could imagine the movements underwater and I was always impressed by the amount of energy involved in their movements but how they always perform them smoothly.
